Aaron Skyy was born in Lynwood, raised in Compton until he was six, and found his sound in Orange County, drawing on Maxwell, Justin Timberlake and Prince.
He broke through on Red Ant Records under famed manager Randy Phillips, who went on to manage Michael Jackson at AEG Live. His debut album, Skyy's the Limit, carried the hits "The One" and "Chocolate," and a Capitol Records deal was on the table.
Then, on tour with Destiny's Child, he fell ill.
He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Multiple brain surgeries followed, the Capitol deal was lost, and the illness was expected to be fatal. Aaron recovered, returned to the studio, and made The ReTurn, a record about resilience with songs by Sprng Brk, Max Lux and KC.
People root for a comeback, and the brands that join early are part of every chapter that follows.
